South African 2019 Matriculants positive about final exams.
The 2019 Matriculants of South Africa are very optimistic about their final exams, which are to start on Wednesday 23 October 2019. English first Additional language is the first main Exam to be written by the class of 2019.
They are approximately about 790 405 pupils who will be writing the 2019 national senior certificate(NSC).
The government has always been behind the pupils from day one offering the support they needed. The Matric candidates were encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities that were available to them from the begin of the 2019 academic year so that they can develop themselves to be better citizens. The government had removed many barriers to education by introducing "no fee" schools and offering bursaries and study loans to students who want to study at institutions of higher learning.
It was never an easy year, we had so many challenges this year at schools throughout the provinces of South Africa more especially Gauteng where we saw incidents where learners were being stabbed with sharp weapons to dead. We were all worried that this would cause a whole lot of damage to other learners as they are learning in fear of what might happen to them. Despite the challenges they class of 2019 seems to be all set. They had all the necessary support they needed.
SADTU has called for descipline and dedication from pupils ahead of the matric examinations.
The Exams are expected to run up until 28 November 2019.
Satdu has called the communities where candidates will be writing to fully support them and not to have any protests that will disrupt the learning, teaching as well as the writing of the Exams.
I would like to wish candidates the best of luck with all their papers. I encourage them to work hard not to lose focus as the goal posts are in sight for them now. It has been a long 12 years of studying now the time has come, use it to your full ability.
I urge parents, family members and caregivers to support candidates in every possible way and ensure that they had enough time and a conductive environment to successfully prepare and write the exams.
Wish our teachers and invigilators luck. We hope everyone will be at their best to ensure clean and credible NSC examinations for 2019.
