Final Examinations are never easy!!!
Matriculants are writing their final examinations and we all know that this is a very stressful time of the year to them. It is not only Matriculants who are faced with this situation but also many other students all over the country who are in universities and colleges. The pressure to pass can be overwhelming as extra attention it is really placed on them, be it from government, family, community and even peers.
This is that time of the year where we are all tested on what we have been doing throughout the year. This season can bring on levels of stress and burnout that can hinder your studies.
We are all stressed by these exams in different ways. It is important to manage this stress and find little ways to help you eliminate the risk of burnout.
2019 hasn't been an easy year for all of us, from learners in lower grades like grade 1 where one of them were raped, young children not making it back from schools, learners in upper grades fighting and stabbing each other to death with sharp weapons and going to tertiary institutions where our sisters got lost and found dead, our teachers killed and our family members killed. That can never be easy to deal with and now while we are still living in fear exams are here.
We had a lot of cases this year of people who lost their lives to the killer enemy called Depression.
A lot of students might see the rope as a solution to their stress that is brought by the exams. It was reported on Tuesday a student from University of Pretoria was found hanged on the door of his room. We really need to do something about this. We cannot continue to lose our loved one's like this.
Every time when you feel overwhelmed and too much stressed speak with someone about it. It is not good for you to die in silent. The country still need people like you to make sure that they will change this country to be a better one.
Parents needs to check up on their children more often than ever in this season of Exams. It is known that every parent knows her child and if that's the case parents will be the best people to see when their children are stressed.
As peers support each other in every way possible to make sure that you all nail the exams together.
They are various support groups in the country at schools and clinics where you can get professional help.
All the best with the Exams and stay focused.
HHAY NUMBER ONE.. YOU RAISED AN IMPORTANT POINT THERE
